Chapter 5 Estimation of Doubtful Accounts

The Accounts Receivable (AR) area is comprised of all business
processes related to recording and tracking receivables from member states,
donors, commercial customers, staff members and any other entity that owes
money to the UN. Estimated irrecoverable amount for financial reporting
purpose is computed based on an analysis which is primarily based on specific
identification of receivable and the period since the receivable is overdue. Loans and receivables are assessed at each reporting date to
determine whether there is objective evidence of impairment.

The balance sheet aging of receivables method is more complicated than the other two methods, but it tends to produce more accurate results. This is because it considers the amount of time that accounts receivable has been owed, and it assumes that the longer the time owed, the greater the possibility that individual accounts receivable will prove to be uncollectible. If you pay or incur costs that may be treated as research or experimental costs, you may be able to take the research credit. AR aging method

Your state imposes a tax on personal property used in a trade or business conducted in the state. This tax is assessed and becomes a lien as of July 1 (accrual date). In most cases, this election will not increase the total tax owed on the joint return. If the debit and credit columns equal each other, it means the expenses equal the revenues. This would happen if a company broke even, meaning the company did not make or lose any money.
